Grief

About 4 weeks after my husband's death I felt an overwhelming need to create something from some clay I had stored for years.

This piece was finished in an afternoon and weeks later kindly fired by a pottery in Totana.

Influenced by Maori sculpture and American Indian totems, but not knowing exactly how I wanted it to look when finished, this sculpture developed from within, heart to hand, carving and cutting, raw and harsh, the way my grief felt at the time.
